New Canaan advances to the New England Regional Championship, 11-6!

New Canaan, Connecticut 11 South Weymouth, Massachusetts 6

     Led by an eleven hit attack (seven singles, two doubles, one triple, and one home run), the Connecticut 10 year old State Champions advanced to the New England Regional Championship with an 11-6 victory over South Weymouth (Eastern Massachusetts Champion).  The win, which took three days (suspended game after three innings on Wednesday) to get, sets up a rematch between New Canaan and West Warwick (Rhode Island State Champions). 

    Although South Weymouth jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a double by Alex Rosario and a sacrifice bunt by Jason Davern, New Canaan scored seven runs on six hits (Kyle Levasseur - double, Zach Allen - single, Alex LaPolice - r.b.i. double, Zach Smith - single, Justin Clark - two run single, and Harry Molloy - r.b.i. single).

     After starter Zach Allen retired the side in order in the top of the second inning, Alex LaPolice put New Canaan ahead, 9-2, with a home run in the bottom half of the inning.

     In the bottom of the third inning, New Canaan pulled away by scoring two more runs on on an error, walk, an r.b.i. single by Zach Allen.

     In the  the top of the fifth inning, South Weymouth cut the lead to 11-6 on hits by Eric Keefe (single), Alex Rosario (single), Brandon Umano (r.b.i. double), Neal Vittelo (r.b.i. double), and Chris Flipp (r.b.i. single). 

     Unfortunately for the Eastern Massachusetts Champions, New Canaan's Thomas Williams settled in and allowed only one hit the top of the sixth inning. 

     Offensively, New Canaan received contributions form Colin Tiller (run scored), Kyle Levasseur (2 for 2, one double and one triple), Liam Lisec (two walks and one run scored), Zach Allen (2 for 3, two run scored), Alex LaPolice ( 2 for 4, double, home run, and two runs scored), Zach Smith (1 for 4, on run scored), Justin Clark (2 for 4, one run scored), Harry Molloy (single and run scored), Jimmy Fahey (run scored), and David Guisti (1 for 2).   

     Offensively, South Weymouth was led by Eric Keefe (2 for 3, two runs scored), Alex Rosario (2 for 3, one double, two runs scored), Brandon Umano (1 for 4, double and one run scored), Neal Vittelo (1 for 1, one double, two walks, and one run scored), and Chris Flipp (1 for 3).
